The Crh Family of Peptides

چکیده
p0005 Corticotropin-releasing hormone [CRH; also referred to as corticotropin-releasing factor (CRF)] is a member of a family of related peptides in vertebrates that includes the fish urotensins-I, frog sauvagine, and the urocortin/stresscopin peptides. CRF was first named for its stimulatory effect on corticotropin [also known as adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH)] secretion from the anterior pituitary gland. ACTH is the primary pituitary regulator of adrenal glucocorticoid biosynthesis and secretion. Members of the CRH family of peptides play central roles in the regulation of neuroendocrine, autonomic, and behavioral responses to physical and emotional stress. s0005 THE CRH FAMILY OF PEPTIDES

Teleocortin: A Novel Member of the CRH Family in Teleost Fish.
The CRH family of neuropeptides, including CRH and urocortins, plays pivotal roles in the regulation of physiological and behavioral stress responses in vertebrates. In this study, we identified a previously undescribed member of the CRH family of peptides in a teleost fish species (medaka; Oryzias latipes) and named this peptide teleocortin (Tcn). Medaka Tcn is a 41-amino acid polypeptide deri...

CRH-binding protein (CRH-BP) is a key factor in the regulation of CRH signaling; it modulates the bioactivity and bioavailability of CRH and its related peptides. The conservation of CRH-BP throughout vertebrates was only recently demonstrated. Here we report the presence of CRH-BP in the honeybee (Apis mellifera) and other insects. Honeybee CRH-BP resembles previously characterized vertebrate ...

Corticotropin-releasing hormone (CRH) and related peptides (urocortins, sauvagine, urotensin) play a central role in the co-ordination of autonomic, behavioural, cardiovascular, immune and endocrine responses to stressful stimuli. Their actions are mediated through activation of two types of G-protein-coupled receptors encoded by separate genes. In this review we focus on the diverse structural...

Corticotropin-releasing hormone (CRH), also known as corticotropin-releasing factor, is a highly conserved peptide hormone comprising 41 amino acid residues. Its name derives from its role in the anterior pituitary, where it mediates the release of corticotropin (ACTH) leading to the release of adrenocortical steroids. CRH is the major hypothalamic activator of the hypothalamic–pituitary– adren...

The CRH receptor (CRH-R) is a member of the secretin family of G protein-coupled receptors. Wide expression of CRH-Rs in the central nervous system and periphery ensures that their cognate agonists, the family of CRH-like peptides, are capable of exerting a wide spectrum of actions that underpin their critical role in integrating the stress response and coordinating the activity of fundamental ...
